The ultimate luxury is to have a space large enough to actually get dressed, accessorise and possibly do make up in amongst your clothes. The dressing room typically has enough space for at least a seat or a dressing table and will need to be around 3mx 4m to really create a luxurious, spacious atmosphere. If you dream of having a space for an island cabinet where you might display jewellery, a room of 3600x 3600mm is required at a minimum.
Things to be wary of when you’re planning a dream dressing room are windows. Not only do they suck a lot of storage space out of your room, they will fade your clothing if they let in too much direct light. Of course some natural light and air is great, so ideally place windows above 2100mm for keeping out of the way, not causing a fade issue and having minimal storage impact.
The position of the doorway is important in achieving both a sense of arrival in your dressing room while maximising the area either side of the door. As a quick guide, try to at least achieve 300mm behind a door so that you can use it for shoes if nothing else.
You will probably enjoy some integrated lighting within your dressing room to enable you to see your clothing, jewellery and bags. Lighting can be remote controlled, dimmed and motion sensor switched.
You might also consider a feature pendant light over a dressing table. If you intend applying make up in the dressing room, we will plan the lighting carefully, factoring the colour rendering index of lights as well as beam angles to light your face well to ensure the best possible set up. Planning ahead is very beneficial as you need to factor in electrical work.
I am so happy to have had Sally recommended to me. She has a unique and innovative mind and the work she has done for me shows that. It has a true perfection.I recommend her totally. Having moved to a small unit with limited wall space Sally of Sally Clever Closets designed a wall of bookcases around and under two windows extending to a cabinet for the TV on the adjoining wall.
A brilliant use of space and in a darkish true blue colour ,very dramatic

Many people tussle over the decision as to whether or not to have doors in a dressing room. There are pros and cons both ways and sometimes a combination is the best option both practically and aesthetically.
Once we have worked with you to arrive at the right look and feel, we’ll plan your dressing room to best reflect your combination of needs. While these rooms do take on the glamour look, it is still really important to design with a mindset of making it easy to find and put things away so that it stays glamorous, and so do you!
Other features to consider in your dressing room are valet hooks, for planning outfits. These are hooks somewhere in the open space of the dressing room just waiting for you to hang that ball gown on while you consider the shoes and shawl to finish the outfit.
Packing benches can be very handy being right in the dressing room. Your packing will be more convenient and comfortable than a suitcase on the floor.
Integrated Laundry hampers, and sometimes a fold down ironing board.
Plenty of accessories such as scarf racks, belt racks, jewellery drawers add mirrors.
The most popular items tend to be shoe cabinets or hand bag displays. There’s nothing like seeing your favourite items right up close and ready to go, and of course an elegant, full length mirror.
